ATT Replacement for the Alltel Motorola M800 Bag Phone Motorola VA76r Tundra

If you are currently using a Motorola M800 Bag Phone and ATT will become your carrier, you may want to look for a Motorola Tundra. The Tundra VA76r is one of the only ATT phones that supports an external antenna connector.

I want to make something clear to current Alltel customers who will become ATT. ATT is installing 3G UMTS (WCDMA) NOT GSM. UMTS is much like the current CDMA in your area that your M800 bag phone uses. The Motorola Tundra is one of the only 3G UMTS phones that supports an external antenna. The M900 and M930 are GSM only phones. UMTS has a greater range than GSM.

The Tundra is no longer available from ATT, you will have to pick this phone up from Ebay.

More information on the Tundra can be found on Phone Scoop

V76r Tundra Antenna Adapter

The antenna plug is located under the the battery cover. The adapter fits tightly but should still be used with a hands free device to avoid risk of damage to the connectors.

Tundra external antenna yagi and amp

The new UMTS ATT signal uses the same band as your current M800, your current antenna and amp will work with the new signal. In picture: Motorola Tundra V76r, Wilson Cellular Amp, 1/2" Hard line Coax, 3 Element Yagi.

I am not affiliated with AT&T in anyway other than this is the phone I chose to replace my M800 Bag Phone. This phone has worked well for me, use this information at your own risk.
